Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MapVault ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

You must be at least 13 years old to use MapVault. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of Service

MapVault is a mobile application for iOS and Android that lets you save places, organise them with tags and notes, track which you've visited, and share maps with others.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where possible, we will provide advance notice of significant changes.

3. Accounts

You sign in using Apple or Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are inactive for an extended period, with prior notice where possible.

4. Free Tier and MapVault Premium

Free Tier

The free tier allows you to save up to 20 places across all your maps.

MapVault Premium

MapVault Premium is a paid subscription that unlocks the following features:

• Unlimited places — no cap on the number of places you can save
• Unlimited maps — create as many maps as you like
• Shared maps — create and manage maps shared with other users

Billing and Payment

Premium is billed annually at the price shown at the time of purchase. All billing is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your platform. By subscribing, you agree to the payment terms of the respective store.

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. MapVault does not process refunds directly.

Price Changes

We will notify you at least 30 days in advance of any price increase, via email or in-app notification. If you do not cancel before the new price takes effect, your continued subscription constitutes acceptance of the updated price.

Downgrade and Cancellation

If your Premium subscription lapses or is cancelled:

• Your existing data (places, maps, notes) is preserved and remains accessible
• You will not be able to create new places or maps beyond the free tier limits until you resubscribe
• Shared maps you own will become read-only for collaborators until Premium is restored

There is no free trial for MapVault Premium.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create in MapVault, including places, notes, and tags ("User Content"). By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display your User Content solely to operate and improve the service.

You are responsible for your User Content. Do not save or share content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes on others' rights.

6. Shared Maps

When you share a map with others via an invite link, invited users are assigned one of the following roles:

• Contributor — can view and add or edit places on the map
• Member — can view places and mark them as visited, but cannot add or edit content

You, as the map owner, are responsible for managing access and for the content shared on maps you create. We are not responsible for how other users interact with shared content.

Shared map creation and management is a Premium-only feature.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Upload malicious content or spam
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others

8. Intellectual Property

The MapVault name, logo, and branding are our property. You may not use them without written permission. The app and its original content (excluding User Content) remain our intellectual property.

9. Disclaimers

MapVault is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Place data in MapVault is user-generated. We do not verify the accuracy of saved locations, names, or notes.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MapVault and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may stop using MapVault at any time by deleting your account. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms, with notice where practicable. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases, and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of MapVault after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
